Carpenter Position
Overview : Full-time, hourly overtime eligible position with weekly pay! This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Carpenters get first-hand access to the rides that established us as the Thrill Capital of the South! Six Flags Over Georgia is seeking a qualified Carpenter. This position is responsible for the safe repair and maintenance of amusement rides and park facilities.
Status : Full Time Hourly, Non-Exempt.
Pay Range : $30.12-$40.16 per hour (depending on level of experience). Work in excess of 40 hours per week is paid at 1.5x standard pay rate.
Responsibilities
- Inspect rides and attractions, and notifying management of any hazards that may endanger guests or employees.
- Perform ride inspection and maintenance programs in accordance with the standards set by Six Flags, Ride Manufacturers, ASTM, and the State of Georgia.
- Maintain, erect, and repair various theme park rides and park facilities.
- Make repairs to roofs, fences, buildings, concrete walkways, and wooden roller coasters.
- Construct various small items which may include shelving, fences, storage units, event booths, sign frames, tables, cabinets, etc.
- Visually inspect wooden roller coasters.
- Remove and / or replace various wooden roller coaster components using hand or power tools.
- Work as part of an assigned crew performing rough and finish carpentry.
- Read and interpret drawings and schematics as provided.
- Keep a daily duty log of maintenance work performed as well as accurate records of preventative maintenance.
- Respond to work orders and conduct carpentry repairs as required to maintain safe park operation.
- Adhere to park policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three to five years of carpentry experience.Strong knowledge of carpentry best practices and proper construction methods.Advanced knowledge and experience with hand / power tools and shop equipment.Ability to meet deadlines.Ability to professionally interact with other shops and various departments.Must be able to troubleshoot clearly, calmly, and safely in the presence of guests, co-workers, and park management.Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English.Able to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, standing for long periods of time, climbing, and working at heights up to 200 ft.Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.Ability to work outside in any weather conditions, nights, weekends, and holidays.Valid driver's license and clean DMV report.Employees are required to supply their own hand tools.Cedar Fair Entertainment Company is an equal opportunity employer.
