General Description :

The Forklift Operator shall adopt the culture, standards, values and working environment as outlined by the Department Manager and the entire executive management team. The Forklift Operator is responsible for ensuring the inventory needs of all production areas are met, to accurately and efficiently load and unload trucks and Kilns, servicing the mill, and assisting in the organization of the yard in accordance with the Kennebec Lumber Co. standards. The Loader Operator will assist in keeping accurate inventory control, providing excellent customer service to all customers, coworkers and vendors while maintaining a high level of professionalism. In addition, this position will assist in maintenance of the grounds, organization and the daily care of the equipment.

Responsibilities :

• Work flexible hours : occasionally stay late, come in early, and shifting breaks based on yard needs
• Loading and Unloading Trucks
• Accurately tagging and strapping lumber
• Rotating stock as directed
• Organizing placement of lumber in the yard
• Waxing Lumber Packs
• Performing light maintenance tasks on equipment
• Efficiently operate and input data into handheld device for shipping and inventory
• Maintain solid ongoing communication with other yard staff and loader operators to facilitate smooth operation of yard activities
• Keep Workspace Organized and clean – inclusive of equipment cabs
• Obtain any supplies through proper channels and SOP
• Demonstrate exemplary customer service to customers, coworkers, vendors, and all site visitors at all times
• Service the mill as needed
• Assist with all trucks – incoming and outgoing
• Maintain Grounds, organization and accuracy
• Accurate documentation of all loads
• Fueling equipment at end of every shift
• Conduct equipment inspections at the beginning of every working shift and complete the Daily Inspection Sheet
• Greasing machines and Preventative Maintenance items and documentation
• Maintain effective communication regarding inventory, stain, and other yard related issues with the Manager or other effected employees.
• Participate in the snow removal process as directed by Management
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Miscellaneous Requirements :

Steel Toe footwear is required in all areas.

Use professionalism at all times

Bend, stretch, stoop, squat, push, pull & twist multiple times daily.
