Summary

Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates the plan of care using the nursing process and proactively anticipates patient needs; provides individual assistance to patients, families and care givers throughout the course of treatment; organizes multi-disciplinary and / or multi-centered care, facilitates effective communication with care providers, and provides education for patients within their primary disease site; coordinates all education and training required for the care team; responsible for the patient experience by ensuring excellent customer service and timely management of any patient complaints; ensures that all patient questions and / or concerns are referred to the proper department and addressed in a timely manner; serves as the point of contact for patients with questions about their plan of care, as well as the point of contact for the attending and all consulting physicians.

Required Education and Experience

License Requirement

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience or critical care experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park Nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months as a Nurse I at Roswell Park; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.

Note

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate should have their Bachelor's degree in Nursing, minimum of 3 years of oncology experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting, and prior leadership experience as a Charge Nurse or Team Leader.
