South Mountain Creamery is a dairy farm family : we bottle our own milk and make our own butter, yogurt, and ice cream. We brought the milkman back in 2001 and have been making home deliveries to the DMV area for 24 years and counting. We love what we do and know you will too!
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Purchasing of frozen, meat, and seafood items.
- Managing inventory.
- Maintain and grow relationships with vendor partners.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional deals to maximize value and profitability.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
- Monitor and adjust procurement plans based on demand forecasts, seasonality, and market conditions.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales, margins, shrink, and vendor compliance.
- Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and improve category performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase operational efficiencies.
Requirements
Purchasing, grocery, food service, supply chain management, agriculture, or a related field.2 plus years of experience in grocery purchasing.Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and category management software.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Ability to lift up to 50lb and ability to be in freezer for extended periods of time.Knowledge in cut sheet and meat processing.As a family-owned and minded business, we offer competitive wages, opportunities for growth, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision options as well as a great 401(k) plan!
