Key Responsibilities :
- Use personal recovery experience as a powerful tool to support others.
- Provide education and resources to families and the community.
- Act as a role model and mentor.
- Offer support and encouragement to peers.
- Guide individuals in accessing community resources, such as housing, social services, education, and employment assistance.
- Lead recovery education sessions and activities.
- Assist in the development of personalized Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) focusing on personal goals, crisis planning, and relapse prevention.
- Facilitate engaging peer support groups.
- Create opportunities for socialization within the community.
- Conduct outreach for individuals with frequent hospitalizations.
- Engage those who have struggled to connect with the behavioral health system.
- Help develop and implement person-centered individual service plans.
- Assist individuals through the intake process.
- Educate individuals about healthcare reforms.
- Help individuals understand their benefits.
- Support individuals seeking SSI / SSDI benefits through the SOAR process.
- Provide support during discharge and follow up as needed.
- Empower clients by identifying their strengths and resources.
- Facilitate wraparound services (MS Only).
- Collaborate with other team members to provide case management and service coordination.
Qualifications :
Must be at least 18 years old.Must have lived experience with mental health conditions or substance use disorders, be in recovery, open-minded, and willing to share personal recovery stories publicly.Must be a High School Graduate or possess a GED.Must hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.Successful completion of state-specific Peer Specialist Training and Certification is essential.Be Well with HCA :
