Job description

You in This Role You’re an analytical problem-solver with a builder’s mindset. You love diving into data, understanding how materials, labor, and overhead flow through the manufacturing process, and translating that into meaningful financial insights.

You have deep experience with ERP systems, ideally NetSuite, and are excited by the idea of helping implement, refine, and optimize a system from the ground up. You’re comfortable in an environment where not everything is fully defined yet, and you see that as an opportunity to create structure, clarity, and process excellence.

A Day in the Life No two days will look exactly the same, but your focus will center around bringing clarity and accuracy to our financial operations. You’ll be :

  • Reviewing manufacturing and inventory data to ensure accuracy between NetSuite and operational systems like SkuVault.
  • Collaborating with the Purchasing Manager and Supply Chain team to reconcile material flow, validate BOMs, and track inventory movement.
  • Partnering with the Controller on journal entries, reconciliations, and cost analysis to support monthly and quarterly close activities.
  • Participating in ERP implementation meetings to streamline costing workflows and refine system integrations.
  • Helping document SOPs that will become part of our growing QMS and ISO foundation.
  • Analyzing trends, variances, and cost drivers to improve visibility and decision-making across production and finance.
  • Each day, you’ll play a key role in connecting financial accuracy with operational execution—helping drive Unusual Machines’ growth through insight, structure, and precision.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead cost accounting activities to ensure accurate valuation of inventory, materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Partner with the ERP implementation team to build and optimize NetSuite for manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and document SOPs for costing, inventory flow, and production accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Purchasing to validate BOMs, labor routings, and overhead application.
  • Manage monthly accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Support the Controller with 10-Q filings, SEC reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting, ensuring cost accuracy and transparency.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with quarterly inventory counts and ensure reconciliation between SkuVault, NetSuite, and physical counts.
  • Contribute to audit preparation and compliance reporting.
  • Support the creation of a Quality Management System (QMS) framework as we move toward ISO readiness.
  • Requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic, and evolving environment.

  • The opportunity to build a cost accounting structure from the ground up in a high-growth manufacturing startup.
  • Hands-on ownership of NetSuite integration and cost accounting process design.
