Assistant / Associate Professor

The Department of Communications at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in advertising, with an appointment to begin in fall 2026. We are seeking excellent candidates to teach in our advertising core, which includes principles, writing, media planning, creative strategy and execution, and campaigns. Additional teaching may include advertising electives or department areas of high need and demand, such as digital media and graduate courses.

The successful candidate must teach, engage in scholarly and / or creative activities, provide service, participate in assessment of student learning, and mentor students. Teaching assignments may be in-person and / or online undergraduate and graduate courses scheduled during the day and / or evening.

Position and Responsibilities

CSUF faculty are committed teacher / scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and mentored projects. The primary responsibilities include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline and the development of courses in areas of specialization. The successful candidate will produce scholarship and / or creative work commensurate with tenure requirements and contribute to the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in university and disciplinary communities.

The Department of Communications is a large, diverse program with concentrations in advertising, entertainment / tourism, journalism, and public relations. Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in communications or a relevant discipline by the start of appointment
• Minimum two years of professional experience in advertising
• Ability to teach a broad range of advertising courses, including principles, writing, creative strategy, account planning, and campaigns
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of students and colleagues
• A well-articulated research and / or creative agenda in advertising and / or digital media

Compensation and Benefits

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 monthly (12 payments / year). The anticipated hiring range is $6,851 to $6,985 per month. The Associate Professor (Academic Year) salary range is $6,825 to $14,523 monthly. Salary is commensurate with experience. The California Equal Pay Act applies. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
