Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RN candidates must pass an open book exam covering skills learned during orientation. A score of 90% is required to pass or candidates will be terminated. Blocked scheduling will not be approved unless it is for weekends only. Duo candidates needing shared care or the same schedule will not be accepted. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4-5 for both days and nights. Common diagnoses include cardiac medical / surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory conditions, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure. RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin. There is a charge nurse on each shift who takes an assignment. Patient care techs are present on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 12. RNs must troubleshoot high flow respiratory equipment. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled from 06 : 30 to 18 : 30 and 18 : 30 to 06 : 30. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements include a minimum of two holidays within the contract timeframe. Floating to medical-surgical or ICU settings may occur for acuity patients. Scrub color is navy blue. Successful nurses are team players, flexible, adaptable, and possess good communication skills. The unit serves diverse cultural populations. Request time off must be provided upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract). Additional requests for time off will not be approved after submissions. The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required. Trauma level is 2. Care setting is acute.
