Clinical Pharmacist – Prior Authorization (Remote, U.S.)

Location : Remote – U.S. (All States Considered)

Type : Contract (Through April 2026)

Pay : $60 / hour

About the Opportunity

MedOp Solutions is actively recruiting several Clinical Pharmacists to support a leading national health organization in the review and decision-making process for pharmacy drug authorizations and appeals.

This fully remote opportunity allows you to leverage your clinical expertise from anywhere in the U.S., supporting safe, effective, and compliant use of pharmaceuticals while collaborating with a mission-driven team dedicated to patient outcomes and quality care.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and render clinical determinations for prior authorization and appeal requests.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer consultations with prescribers to discuss the clinical rationale for adverse determinations.
  • Participate in clinical quality audits and inter-rater reliability testing.
  • Provide internal support for escalations, policy clarifications, and clinical inquiries.
  • Apply clinical expertise to ensure appropriate and evidence-based medication use for patients and providers.
  • Maintain strict compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations and utilization management.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in at least one U.S. state (ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed).
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacist experience in clinical, managed care, or utilization management settings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in prior authorization, appeals, or drug utilization review preferred.
  • Schedule & Training

  • Start Date : Targeting November 24, 2024 (subject to change).
  • Contract Duration : Through April 2026 (with potential extension).
  • Training : 3–4 weeks of group class training (self-study and instructor-led).
  • No PTO permitted during training.
  • Shifts :
  • Options include four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts.
  • One weekend shift per week required (e.g., every Saturday or every Sunday).
  • Initial training schedule : Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts; weekend rotation begins ~2 months post-start.
  • PTO : Limited availability during contract term; must be pre-approved and submitted with resume if applicable.
  • Recruiting & Selection Process

  • Case Study : All candidates must complete a clinical case study within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Interviews : Candidates who pass will proceed to two interviews :
  • 30 minutes with a Senior Clinical Pharmacist
  • 30 minutes with a Pharmacist Supervisor
  • Interviews coordinated by MedOp’s recruitment team.
