Description

The Behavioral Health Technician works in collaboration with the Clinical Team in developing and maintaining the client's treatment plan. Behavioral Health Technicians are responsible for direct supervision and care of the clients and are responsible for the planning and facilitation of client's daily activities.

  • Provides direct care and supervision to clients while establishing and implementing the day to day activities of the facility
  • Provides one-to-one support for clients and addresses areas where they need support while in care
  • Responsible for recording client's daily activities and assists in identifying concerns that might require the need for additional services. Communicates such findings to their direct supervisor, the clinical team and clinical director
  • Communicates clearly, model's appropriate behaviors, uses positive reinforcement and needed consequences practices, such as but not limited to, rewards, praise, consequences, and progressive discipline to establish a positive and supportive therapeutic community in accordance with Moriah Therapy policies.
  • Maintains vigilance and awareness of the peer community dynamic while monitoring the behavior, activities, and safety of the clients, their families, and visitors through observation and interaction.
  • Completes required training and demonstrates the use of appropriate de-escalation, crisis intervention and physical containment activities in response to problems and assaultive behavior.
  • Establishes positive and nurturing relationships with clients within professional boundaries in accordance with Moriah Therapy policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for documentation and reports pertaining to daily activities and events clients are involved in, which are then provided to the clinical team in a timely manner.
  • Meets regularly with the clinical team concerning client care and program concerns; assists in development or modification of daily procedures for improvement of services.
  • Oversees program activities including the facilitation of groups, and workshops, social and recreational activities, and client outing activities.
  • Prepares and conducts client seminars and workshops appropriate for adolescents, as well as creating opportunities for individual skill learning.
  • Assists clients in self-administering medications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current and safe driving records and upholds safety and facility cleanliness standards.
  • Transports pre-approved clients in Moriah Therapy vehicles.
  • Participates in parenting roles during meals, homework, recreation, social and community activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license or State ID.
  • Must be willing to be available 24 hours a day (for on-call positions).
  • Applicant must be either a U.S. Citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Must meet federal, state and local Criminal Clearance and Child Abuse Indexing requirements.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen and submit to random drug tests as requested.
  • Applicants are also required to pass a general medical evaluation.
  • Computer skills required : (ADP timekeeping, Microsoft Office Suite; EMR Kipu)
  • CPR / BLS certified
