SUMMARY : The Maintenance Apprentice is responsible for gaining comprehensive hands-on training in installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of complex machinery and electrical equipment; promoting teamwork through behavior, acting in accordance with Altek’s Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations defined by management. Pay is DOE.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Learns to install, maintain, repair, and rebuild a wide range of complex machine tools, special-purpose machines, and plant equipment including automated and assembly machinery to ensure product quality and cost efficiencyLearns to diagnose issues, disassemble equipment, and assess the extent of necessary repairsLearns to repair, refit, or replace components using high-quality replacement partsLearns to select materials and plan and execute advanced machining operationsLearns to layout, install, and maintain diverse electrical equipment including motors, motor-generator sets, rectifiers, transformers, process controls, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic devicesLearns to install power, lighting, electronic, and control circuits and related apparatusLearns to prioritize tasks and equipment failures while coordinating and performing preventive maintenanceLearns fabrication and welding techniquesAttends all training and classes necessary to expand knowledge, skills, and experience as directed for departmental growthBuilds and maintains positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and / or suppliersExhibits positive communication and behavior skillsAdapts and modifies as circumstances warrantDemonstrates safe work habitsMaintains a clean, organized work environmentEmbraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customersEmbraces Altek's Vision, Core Values, and expected behaviorsQUALIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or GEDAA degree preferredMold press experience preferredCNC Machine Tool experience preferredElectrical / hydraulic / mechanical experience preferredAbility to read mechanical and electrical schematics and technical manualsGood documentation skillsIntermediate writing skillsAbility to work independently, take initiativeAbility to manage workload and changing prioritiesGood problem-solving skillsAbility to follow directionsPhysically able to meet all the requirements of the positionAbility to use various hand and power toolsCertified or willingness to be certified to operate a fork liftPHYSICAL DEMANDS
