Job Description
The UM Coordinatorpossessesknowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally. The UM Coordinator evaluates patient medical records todetermineseverity of patient’s illness anddeterminingthe appropriateness of level of care. Serves asliaisonfor patients andhospitalwith insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. Overseesutilizationreview activities with other departments to ensure reimbursement for services provided by the hospital. The UM Coordinatorfacilitatesphysician weekly staffing meetings and coordinates withphysician’soutpatient offices for the purposes of billing. The UM Coordinator has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages patient benefits.
Qualifications Job Requirements
Education: Bachelorsprepared healthcare professional (Nursing, Counseling, Psychology orSocialWork)required, MA/MSW or RN preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years direct psychiatric patient care experience.
Licensure/Certification: Valid TN RN license, LCSW, or LPC preferred.
Knowledge: Mustpossessknowledge of psychiatric care,utilizationreview, insurance reimbursement procedures, DSM-V, etc. Advanced computer skills necessary. Strong analytical, organizational,verbaland written skillsrequired.
