About The Position

The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
This role ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
The nurse practices in a clinical environment administered by nurse managers and supported through a shared governance model.
The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model, evidence-based practice, and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies.
The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards of nursing practice.
As a member of the patient services team, the RN upholds the voice of the patient while supporting service excellence goals.
Core responsibilities include performing the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.
The RN provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partnership with patients and significant others is prioritized to ensure their goals are the focus of care.
It is critical to practice using current clinical practice standards.
Coordinating delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care is an essential aspect of this role.
The RN demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
Participation in performance improvement activities with stakeholders and supporting shared governance at all levels is expected.
The RN completes all required initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
Serving as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses is also part of this role.
The RN promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.
Participation in data collection and consultation with experts to address practice questions is encouraged.
The RN proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum.
Supporting the efficient use of resources and participating in the development of protocols and procedures is also required.
The RN upholds organizational policies and procedures and ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
