Position Overview
The Collections Specialist is a proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical professional responsible for managing customer accounts and driving timely collections. This onsite role in Jersey City offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you’ll monitor outstanding balances, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, organized, and skilled in both communication and financial analysis.
Responsibilities of the Collections Specialist :
- Manage customer accounts to identify overdue payments and outstanding balances.
- Reconcile accounts and issue regular notices in alignment with the collections team.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries regarding invoices, payment terms, and account status.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to resolve issues and accelerate collections.
- Apply financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company guidelines.
- Maintain and update customer database.
- Generate accurate reporting and analysis of collections performance.
- Assist in implementing process improvements to enhance collections efficiency.
Required Experience / Skills for the Collections Specialist :
3 - 5 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, treasury, or a related field.Strong understanding of payment terms, banking, and risk assessment.Analytical and critical thinking skills.Experience in credit and customer relationship management.Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus.Basic knowledge of commercial law.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict professionally.Education Requirements :
