Brief description of division / department :
Under supervision of the Head of Middle School, the Middle School science teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing lessons which cover both the content and skills of the grade 6 Earth science curriculum. Qualified candidates will be able to create and provide an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for each student as well as monitor and evaluate academic outcomes. All Cape Henry Collegiate teachers are expected to communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community in a manner that represents the mission and core values of the school.

- Plan and implement lessons that meet the learning objectives of the Earth science curriculum.
- Work closely with the STEAM director to design and incorporate performance tasks which allow students to demonstrate their application of scientific concepts in innovative ways.
- Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the Division Head.
- Collaborate with other members of the science department to support the curricular and strategic goals of the school.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a Master’s Degree and / or state teaching license will be given preferential treatment.Minimum of 3 years teaching experience within the content area preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
