Unit Name : Epstein 5 Adult Psych. 2. Brief Unit Description : 30-bed unit, adults ages 18-65. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients : Detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care). 3. Years of Experience Required : 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience. 4. Skill Sets Required : Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges. Competent in the use of IV pumps. Competent in care of a diabetic patients. 5. Clinician to Patient Ratio : 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. 6. Patient Population : Adults ages 18 to 65 years. 7. Bed Count : 30. 8. EMR (Charting System) : EPIC. 9. Floating Required : Yes. 10. Rotating Shifts Required : Yes for Day Rotate. Rotation not required for Night positions. 11. Certifications Required : Active Massachusetts RN License. AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation. 12. Additional Information : AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations. Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses.
