Overview

Assistant Front Office Manager, USC Hotel at USC CERPP (Center for Enrollment Research, Policy and Practice).

The USC Hotel offers 240 guest rooms and over 15,000 square feet of flexible event space. The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing daily front office operations, supervising staff, optimizing revenue, ensuring exceptional guest service, and assisting with supervision of the Front Desk, Security, and related areas. The role may serve as Manager on Duty during evenings and weekends to ensure guest and employee satisfaction and drive departmental financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Front of House guest experience, including registration, accurate billing, problem resolution, and ensuring a warm departure.
  • Respond promptly to guest special requests, concerns, and issues to maintain high satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Assign tasks to Front Desk Agents (credit limits, registration details, posting charges, cleanliness and organization).
  • Supervise Front Office team members (supervisors, concierge, security, parking attendants, bell staff).
  • Ensure compliance with Front Office quality standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in managing room inventory status to optimize revenue while meeting guest expectations.
  • Support development and execution of revenue strategies to achieve occupancy and ADR goals.
  • Collaborate with the Front Office Manager and Revenue Analyst to maximize revenue through the guestroom upsell program.
  • Provide input for timely performance appraisals and employee feedback.
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the Manager's absence.
  • Lead the execution of VIP arrivals and special requests, coordinating with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Security for a seamless guest experience.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of front office and stationery supplies.
  • Review daily Front Office work and activity reports from Night Audit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; the University reserves the right to modify responsibilities at any time.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education : Associate's degree or combined experience / education as a substitute for minimum education.
  • Minimum Experience : Two years of front office supervisory experience in a three- or four-star hotel environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to USC's Unifying Values.
  • Preferred

  • Related undergraduate study.
  • Three years of experience.
  • USC experience in a related field.
  • Compensation and Benefits

    The annual salary range for this position is $68,640 - $70,000. USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, training, key skills, internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions when determining offers.
