Job Title : RN - Med Surg / Tele

Facility : Samaritan Medical Center

Shift : 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and call

Start Date : 01 / 12 / 2025

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (initial assignment, with extension potential)

Certifications and Licenses :

Current NY State Registered Nurse License ( Required )

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification ( Required )

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification ( Required )

What You Bring :

Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State

Proven experience in medical-surgical or telemetry units, preferably within the past year

Successful completion of at least one prior traveler assignment; first-time travelers will not be considered

Strong knowledge of common patient diagnoses such as sepsis, COPD, CHF, post-op care, general Med Surg, plastic surgery recovery, and ALC patients awaiting transfer to nursing homes

Experience managing drips and medications including Heparin drips, magnesium, potassium (K) riders, and other IV medications

Ability to perform thorough patient assessments, prioritize patient care, and provide clinical, educational, mental, and spiritual support

Proficiency in patient safety measures, including proper use of patient lifts and safe patient mobility techniques

Capacity to work effectively under stress, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and adaptability

Leadership abilities with experience in prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, and potentially serving as a charge nurse

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Education & Experience :

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Minimum of 1-year recent experience in an acute care Med Surg or Telemetry setting

Experience with Meditech electronic health record system
