Responsibilities : If selected at the GS-09 level, duties below will be performed in a developmental capacity :

• Determines mission essential operating equipment requirements, planning replacements, availability of substitutes, level of utilization, priority of acquisitions, and recommending repair or disposal of equipment items.
• Advises designated Disposition Services site(s) in South-East regarding priorities and actual requirements (five year projection) for replacing, procuring, and operating material handling equipment.
• Serves as the Hand Receipt Holder for the designated DLA Disposition Services site(s) and administers, plans and directs the facility property management program and advises other Hand Receipt Holders throughout South-East.
• Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for contract vehicle of moderate to high complexity service contract providing for the maintenance and repair of all levels of facility equipment.
• Oversees service and equipment contracts to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Planning and determining future requirements of mission essential equipment; monitoring equipment repair history; preparing justification for emergency replacements; and monitoring equipment utilization.
• Serves as the designated Disposition Services site's Trainer for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and other vehicles requiring training and licensing, such as MHE, tracked / wheeled construction equipment, generators and light sets.

Qualifications : To qualify for an Equipment Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support :

Physical Demands : The incumbent will be required to do considerable walking, standing and moderate bending. On occasion will be required to perform lifting up to 35 pounds. Operation of equipment is sometimes necessary. Some work is done in the warehouse / industrial areas as well as the Disposition Services yards or an equipment site where it is drafty and noisy, and fumes from equipment are present. Dirt, dust and grease are frequently present.

Work Environment : Work may be performed in an office, warehouse or outside scrap yard. Work involves regular and recurring exposure to adverse weather conditions as well as all hazards associated with the operation of MHE. This may require the use of limited safety equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes and other similar safety apparel.

GRADUATE EDUCATION : One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION : If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
