The largest Wisconsin newspaper producer is looking to add a skilled offset web pressman to their team!
Responsibilities :
Setting up and operating presses : Loading paper, making adjustments for paper size, and ensuring correct pressure and registration between plates and ink.
Monitoring print quality : Adjusting ink and water balance, and ensuring print quality meets specifications.
Troubleshooting and maintenance : Making minor repairs, cleaning equipment, and performing routine maintenance.
Maintaining equipment : Changing plates, blankets, and cylinders as needed.
Ink management : Obtaining or mixing inks and filling ink fountains.
File management : Downloading or scanning files, adjusting digital files, and inputting job settings.
Production tracking : Maintaining time or production records, controlling workflow, and tracking jobs.
Inventory management : Monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies.
Environmental monitoring : Monitoring humidity and temperature and making necessary adjustments.
Training and supervision : Potentially training and developing press crews, directing or monitoring their work.
Skills and Abilities :
Mechanical aptitude : Understanding of printing press mechanics and ability to troubleshoot issues.
Attention to detail : Ensuring accuracy in print quality and meeting specifications.
Good color perception : Ability to identify and correct color inconsistencies.
Communication skills : Working with other pressmen and supervisors.
Teamwork : Working collaboratively with other pressmen and departments.
Time management : Meeting deadlines and completing jobs on time.
Problem-solving : Identifying and resolving issues during print runs.
Working Conditions :
May involve working in a noisy environment.
May involve exposure to inks and cleaning chemicals.
May involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
