Job description

Position : Occupational Therapist - Mercy Stoddard Department : Occupational Therapy Acute Shift : PRN - Days We’re a Little Different Our mission is clear. The treatment plan is based on the patients physical, developmental and psychosocial needs. Provides advisory service to other interdisciplinary team members to promote quality patient care. Functions under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director. Performs related duties as assigned. Job Description : Performs initial evaluations and the following components are included. 1.1 To include Orders, Diagnoses, History 1.2 Subjective findings to include but not limited to : Patient Report of Pain, Patient / Family Goals, Prior Level of Function, Discharge Plan 1.3 Performance in Areas of Occupation to include but not limited to Activities of Daily Living, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, Education, Work, Play, Leisure and Social Participation 1.4 Performance Skills which may include motor skills, process skills and communication / interaction skills and Performance Patterns which may include habits, routines and roles 1.5 Factors that may influence Occupational Performance which may include but not limited to Context, Activity Demands, and Client Factors 1.6 Plan and Recommendations to include : Patient-centered, Function Focused, Measurable Goals, Patient / Family Education, Equipment Needs and Follow-up Services Provides treatment to include the following components : 2.1 Interventions to meet Functional, Psychological, Cultural, Educational and Spiritual needs 2.2 Self Care / Home Management training and Community / Work Reintegration Training including Home / Work / School environment 2.3 Therapy interventions which may include but not limited to therapeutic procedures, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic activities, wheelchair management, orthotic management, prosthetic management, development of cognitive skills, sensory motor techniques 2.4 Therapeutic modalities which may include but not limited to electrical stimulation, hot / cold packs, paraffin 2.5 Demonstrate effective interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation of said collaboration Discharge Planning 3.1 Education provided to Patient / Significant Other / Caregiver to include but not limited to Home Program, Equipment and Instruction in the use of Equipment 3.2 Recommend Follow-up Care, if any, which may include Home Program, Skilled Nursing, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Home Health Care, Outpatient Therapy Documentation 4.1 Completes all documentation in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines Productivity Supports and implements budgetary practices in the planning, organization and efficient execution of work activities 5.1 Meets established departmental productivity standards, conserves resources and recognizes the value of cost containment, while maintaining quality standards Customer Satisfaction reflects Mercy values 6.1 Consistently utilizes Mercy Service techniques in establishing and maintaining a positive relationship with all internal and external customers including co-workers as demonstrated by communication that is effective, helpful and appropriate in manner. Professional Development demonstrates a commitment to excellence by advancing ones knowledge base through departmental and non-departmental venues 7.1 Assumes responsibility and accountability for level of work and adherence to competency standards, pursues opportunities for educational advancement and meets departmental continuing education requirements including the provision of inservices for co-workers 7.2 Provides effective supervision for students during clinical rotations 7.3 Process Improvement (PI) / Outcomes demonstrates clinical skills and a commitment toward improvement and monitoring activities which result in enhanced patient outcomes and compliance with regulatory bodies 8.1 Performs additional duties as directed. 8.2 Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance. 8.3 Meets Health System attendance standards. 8.4 Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment when appropriate. 8.5 Observes Universal Precautions consistently. Qualifications : Education : Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Licensure : Current occupational therapy license or eligibility within the hiring state. Certifications : Current BLS through the American Heart Association. Other : Must be able to respond to emergency situations. Preferred Certifications : National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy.
