With four teams at your disposal (tech, editorial, social and video), you’ll stride boldly forth with the overarching goal of expanding an already large and enthusiastic audience that’s very community-minded, folks who love discussing and debating TV and movies. Your task is to grow the tribe, using the data pros you’ll have on tap as well as your gut notions of crowd-pleasing content. What else will get the tribe excited? That’s where your knack for combining out-of-the-box thinking with practical business comes in.

Another huge part of this : Taking stewardship of the site’s editorial voice (smart, independent, knowledgeable, impassioned), shepherding it along, keeping it as beloved as ever while convincing the outside world to take it even more seriously than it already does.

If you like things quantified — and we hope you do –think of your job as being 40% editor, 60% strategist, with an unmeasurable dollop of visionary.

Well, we’ve already talked about a few key bits : groundedness somehow intermixed with wild ambition; a deep sense of what audiences want and how to give it to them; an ability to collect and interpret data to drive business decisions. We presume that is understood (but will say it anyway) that you’ve got an abiding passion for pop culture, especially TV and movies — and that you embody the key traits of the tribe : pure love of TV and movies, unabashed fandom, endless delight in discussion.

You’re also a proven leader of people, able to select the right talent to lead teams and able to inspire them to deliver. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and over the years (in senior editorial positions at buzz-heavy websites) you’ve hit upon a style of communication that is unmistakably clear, fun and firm.
