As a Cloud Native Architect supporting the FS Automation program, you’ll lead the design and evaluation of multi-cloud solutions spanning AWS, Azure, and other commercial environments . Your expertise will guide teams in integrating compute, networking, identity, and data services across clouds, balancing performance, cost, and compliance. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll elevate the organization’s cloud maturity, streamline DevOps collaboration, and help shape a sustainable, secure, and scalable cloud future for mission success.

Schedule and Work Details

Location : Columbia, MD

Schedule : Full-time, standard day shift

Clearance : Top Secret / SCI with Polygraph (must be active)

Here's What Your Day-to-Day Might Include

Design and evaluate multi-cloud architectures that span AWS, Azure, and other commercial providers

Develop reference implementations and integration patterns for cross-cloud networking, identity, and data movement

Assess tradeoffs between cost, performance, compliance, and vendor lock-in to guide architectural decisions

Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to implement cloud-native, mission-aligned solutions

Create reusable infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates using Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM / Bicep

Provide technical mentorship and guidance to teams migrating workloads or building cloud-native services

Document architectures, author best practices, and promote cross-team consistency in cloud design and deployment

Evaluate and recommend tools for monitoring, logging, and cost optimization across clouds

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance : Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (must be active). We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances.

Citizenship : Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline plus twelve (12) years of software or systems engineering experience

OR sixteen (16) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Required Skills

Experience architecting solutions across multiple commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)

Deep knowledge of native cloud services for compute, storage, networking, and identity management

Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation frameworks such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM / Bicep

Understanding of networking principles and protocols

Experience with monitoring, logging, and cost management across multiple clouds

Ability to translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong initiative and problem-solving skills with minimal supervision

Familiarity with CNO mission environments and operational constraints

Desired Skills

Multi-cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Architect )

Experience with hybrid or federated cloud architectures integrating on-prem and SaaS systems

Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, CI / CD, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, AKS)

Experience mentoring and training others in cloud design and architecture

Strong communication and documentation skills with attention to detail

Compensation Range : $171,000.00 - $226,000.00

  • The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
