VP, Head of Complex Assets

The Role

The Complex Asset Group at Fidelity Charitable works with philanthropists, their professional advisors and issuer counsel to facilitate charitable donations of complex assets such as equity interests in privately held C corporations, S corporations, limited partnerships (including private equity, hedge fund and other alternative investment vehicles) and limited liability companies.

The VP, Head of Complex Assets will manage a cross-functional team that will oversee such contributed assets from initial inquiry, to completion of charitable transfers, post-acceptance oversight and closings / funding of Giving Accounts upon liquidation of contributed assets.

Serving at the intersection of wealth creation and philanthropy, you will help make more of a difference for business owners, private equity investors, and their professional legal, tax and financial advisors, who are increasingly seeking more strategic ways to use growth investments to improve their philanthropic impact.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• J.D. required
• B.A. or B.S degree required
• LLM in Tax a plus
• Five years of law firm or in-house experience preferred
• Experience in mergers and acquisitions, taxation, tax exempt-organizations and private capital markets desired
• Experience and high level of competence in the areas of due diligence and assessment of risk in connection with equity interests in private corporations, limited partnerships (such as private equity and hedge fund and other alternative investment vehicles) and limited liability companies
• Curiosity about philanthropy and planned giving a plus
• Experience managing a high-functioning team of experts
• Strong people management skills, and ability to coach and develop the team
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Dynamic and personable with a proven track record of taking the lead
• A strong work ethic
• A continual learner with desire to expand areas of expertise
• Professional and positive demeanor.

The Team

Fidelity Charitable is a public charity that sponsors the largest national donor-advised fund program. Since 1991, Fidelity Charitable has introduced tens of thousands of donors to the benefits — and increased charitable impact — of using a donor-advised fund to meet their philanthropic goals. Fidelity Charitable is governed by an independent Board of Trustees, which has hired Fidelity Investments as the service provider to the charity. Fidelity Investments provides all the charitable organization’s employees and supports all its functions : Program Development, Marketing, Service Delivery, Relationship Management, Finance, Technology, Risk and Compliance, and Fundraising.

Relationship Management

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
