Job Description

The Laboratory at UPMC Soldiers & Sailors is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist OR Medical Laboratory Technician ! This is a full time, 40 hour per week position. Shift hours are nights, 12AM – 8AM with every other weekend and holiday shifts. Evening shift included in rotation, 4PM - 12 : 30AM.

UPMC offers a robust Laboratory Career Ladder, where candidates will be placed into the correct level and status based on education and background; Medical Laboratory Technician ($25.38 / hr – $34.35 / hr) or Medical Laboratory Scientist ($30.80 / hr – $42.04 / hr) and so on!

A completive sign-on bonus is offered!

• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) : $15,000 with a 2-year commitment
• Medical Lab Technician (MLT) : $10,000 with a 2-year commitment

Responsibilities :

Qualifications :

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) :

OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with 6 months of clinical laboratory experience

OR equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA ’88 for individuals performing high complexity testing.

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) :

OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college / university with a major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification,

OR Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college / university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years’ experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory,

OR equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA ’88 and PA Bureau of Laboratories for technologist performing high complexity testing.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred. New York License required for NY locations.
