About the Team

Our multidisciplinary group focuses on detecting and responding to attacks against the World ID service. The system relies on the Orb— a specialized hardware device that captures secure iris data—to provide Proof-of-Personhood. You will work closely with security, device hardware, and software teams to ensure the Orb and its future "Orb Mini" variants remain tamper-resistant and trustworthy.

About the Role

You will design, implement, and monitor tamper-detection mechanisms for the Orb and future devices. Responsibilities include :

Leveraging the Orb's sensor features to detect suspected tampering or other device-level threats.

Designing tamper-detection and response strategies for a new generation of identity verification hardware.

Collaborating cross-functionally with hardware, embedded software, cloud infrastructure and incident-response teams.

Participating in on-call rotation and incident handling as needed.

Travel up to 20% with a preference for the Munich, Germany office.

About You

5-8 years of experience designing security or tamper protection for Linux-based hardware devices.

Hands-on experience with simple electronics design and embedded programming.

Strong knowledge of cryptographic primitives, public-key infrastructure, and secure boot mechanisms.

Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Willingness to engage in an on-call rotation and incident-handling learning.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Ability to read and understand hardware designs from CAD, schematics, and layout files.

Deep understanding of hardware-based security components (TPM, SE, secure boot, etc.) and related attacks.

Experience defending against or executing physical and side-channel attacks on secure hardware.

Pay Transparency Statement (CA)

The reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $221,000 – $250,000, plus a competitive long-term incentive package. Additional benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, life insurance, flexible time off, commuter benefits, and professional development stipend.
