About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer I, focusing on New Product Development (NPD), Sustaining, and Compliance on the Coronary Therapies team within the Interventional Cardiology (IC) division here at Boston Scientific. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission.

Work Mode

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our Maple Grove, MN office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities

  • Help with various aspects of NPD (e.g. – circuit simulation, schematic capture, layout, prototyping, PCB bring-up, documentation, and testing).
  • Help with various aspects of Sustaining (e.g. – design changes, BOM updates, component lifecycle management, documentation, and testing).
  • Help with various aspects of Compliance (e.g. – IEC 60601-1 Product Safety, IEC 60601-1-2 EMC, Wireless Radio Certification, documentation and testing).
  • Own and assist with engineering documentation such as design description documents, verification and validation protocols / reports, compliance test protocols / reports, test method development and validation, fixture designs, tool qualifications, etc.
  • Create schematics, layouts, BOM's and other design outputs as needed utilizing Altium Designer.
  • Work in a lab-based environment using oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, network analyzers, and other electrical test equipment.
  • Simulate circuits using PSpice or similar software.
  • Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, software systems, and networks.
  • Leverage internal / external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives (e.g. – contract design manufacturers, quick-turn / proto labs, 3rd party test labs, etc.)
  • Work cooperatively with Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
  • Train and / or provide work directions to Technicians and Interns, as necessary.
  • Solve engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending correct or alternative actions.
  • In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all documented quality processes and procedures.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or similar Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of relevant Electrical Engineering experience with bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Be a "self-starter" and willing to reach out to cross-functional team members to facilitate design changes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Previous medical device design control process and documentation experience (e.g. – Windchill).
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems and accessories.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.

    Maximum Salary : $110,500

    Compensation and benefits

    The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

    Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

    Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
