Product Analyst - Rebalancing and Trading Consultant
This candidate will be responsible for piloting our order generation, portfolio accounting, and client workflow tools to rebalance portfolios within portfolio manager and client guidelines. This includes completing client requests, ensuring timely execution of portfolio manager directed model changes, and daily tracking of account activity compared to model subscription. The Consultant will uphold meticulous daily trade operations in several respects, including : portfolio servicing and onboarding, portfolio drift analysis, compliance, accounting and reconciliation, data integrity, internal and external model managers, technology and support. Additional responsibilities include partnering with other departments to resolve exceptions and build operational scale. The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of investment products, trade life cycle, and investment operations.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities :
- Portfolio Rebalancing & Tax Loss Harvesting
- Execute daily portfolio rebalancing to accommodate tax loss harvesting requests, model updates, cash flows, and investment objective changes.
- Perform daily portfolio drift analysis and execute trades accordingly.
- Monitoring & Workflow Management
- Review and run morning reports to prepare for daily activities.
- Assess tax harvesting prep and identify outliers before market open.
- Monitor pricing updates and Aladdin trade workflows throughout the day.
- Conduct mid-day checks to ensure Northern Trust (NT) meets internal SLAs.
- Manage and process consistent client workflows as they come in during the day.
- Perform quality control checks and confirm settlement before closing workflows.
- Compliance & Accuracy
- Ensure adherence to compliance standards and procedural documentation.
- Maintain high attention to detail when executing complex activities with significant financial and client impact.
- Technical Skills
- Utilize trading systems and demonstrate aptitude for quickly learning new applications.
Required Skills & Experience
2-3+ years of experience : combination of relevant education & work experienceBackground in asset management or trading, with hands-on experience in :Daily drift monitoring and high / low cash monitoring.Portfolio rebalancing and tax loss harvesting workflows.Understanding of overlay strategies, SMAs, models, and rebalancing processes.In-depth knowledge of investment industry standards and best practices.Strong ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and escalate issues as needed.Proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUP, column filtering, and SUM functions).Experience running and interpreting reports for portfolio monitoring.Familiarity with portfolio management and trading systems such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, or Archer (experience with one or more required).Education : Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.Composed and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.Ability to clearly communicate challenges and opportunities to senior management.Goal-oriented with a strong drive to implement and follow through on improvements.Highly adaptable to change and able to partner effectively with technology and operations teams.Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
