Psychiatrist

Job Description :

• Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.
• Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist / practitioner.
• Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.
• Orders diagnostic / therapeutic tests and procedures.  Monitors patient's progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
• Consults with authorized representatives / legal guardians on patient medical status.
• Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
• Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.
• Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.
• Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
• Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
