The Safety and Risk Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a safety-first culture. This role is critical in mitigating risks associated with our car hauling operations, driving continuous improvement in workplace safety, and promoting operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to enhance workplace safety and minimize operational risks.
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to ensure the effective integration of safety protocols into daily operations.
- Conduct regular safety assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees on safety matters, including organizing training sessions and awareness programs.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, corrective actions, and safety metrics, reporting regularly to senior management.
- Coordinate and lead safety training sessions, workshops, and emergency drills to ensure employees are well-prepared for hazardous situations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on safety data and key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Review and monitor ELD safety videos, offering coaching and developing new KPIs based on recurring incidents.
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of federal and state safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT compliance.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.A minimum of 7 years of experience in transportation safety management, preferably within the auto transport logistics industry.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software tools.Hands-on experience in coaching and mentoring employees in best car hauling practices at terminals.Proven track record in developing and executing successful safety programs and initiatives that have led to measurable improvements in safety outcomes.Job details
