This role ensures high availability, scalability, and security for mission-critical applications while enforcing compliance with DoD governance frameworks, NIST, FedRAMP, and IL-4/IL-5 mandates.

Job Description
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud environments for DoD and federal operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and deploying cloud infrastructures in AWS and Azure, including hybrid and multi-cloud configurations.
- Implementing Identity and Access Management (IAM), role-based access control (RBAC), and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).
- Managing cloud networking configurations such as VPC peering, subnets, VPNs, and security groups.
- Utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or ARM templates to automate deployment and configuration.
- Optimizing compute, storage, and networking resources for efficiency and performance.
- Supporting the Authority to Operate (ATO) lifecycle, including preparation of System Security Plans (SSP), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
- Ensuring compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, FedRAMP, and DoD IL-4/IL-5 security standards.
- Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, continuous monitoring, and compliance assessments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The contractor shall provide personnel who meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or
- A minimum of five (5) years of equivalent professional experience in cloud engineering.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience in:
- Designing, deploying, and managing AWS and Azure cloud environments with a focus on security, automation, and scalability.
- Configuring IAM, RBAC, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) for mission-critical applications.
- Implementing cloud networking solutions, including VPC peering, subnets, VPNs, and security groups.
- Using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Supporting the ATO process, including SSP, SAR, and POA&M preparation and ongoing compliance monitoring.
- Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to enforce security controls in accordance with DoD, FedRAMP, and RMF policies.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, and virtualization.
- Hands-on experience with hybrid and multi-cloud solutions.
- Expertise in cloud compliance frameworks (DoD RMF, NIST, FedRAMP, IL-4/IL-5).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a highly regulated environment.
Education
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Google Professional Cloud Architect
Clearance Requirement
- An ability to obtain and maintain a clearance if needed.
