General Function

The Optometric Technician creates exceptional value by delivering outstanding patient service and ensuring the highest quality of care. The role enthusiastically satisfies patients at all times.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Greets guests promptly and informs them about in?store services and available products.
• Establishes the reason for the guests visit, explains how to shop at Target Optical and provides necessary paperwork and services.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully, identifies special needs, and consults with Opticians, Doctors or Retail Management when required.
• Demonstrates patience and courtesy toward indecisive or difficult guests and patients.
• Performs tasks accurately and thoroughly under time pressure and high guest volume.
• Shows situational awareness and resolves unsatisfied guests promptly.
• Maintains appointment book, scheduling procedures and computer operations.
• Organizes and files all patient records efficiently.
• Places contact lens orders, processes shipments and submits invoices for payment.
• Operates the POS system accurately and collects proper payment.
• Maintains store appearance, cleans displays and promotes an organized environment.
• Reports potential safety opportunities to management.
• Practices safe work procedures and complies with safety / regulatory requirements.
• Performs all pre?examination tests accurately and explains measurements to patients.
• Provides coaching and guidance on contact lens care.
• Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory, offering clinical support to the Optometrist as needed.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range : 19.12 28.81 USD. Additional compensation may include a competitive bonus and / or commission plan. Benefits may include health care, retirement savings, paid time off / vacation, and employee discounts.
