Project Director (SBIRT Community Outreach)

Salary Grade 23 : $80,026 - $91,122

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking one (1) qualified candidate to fill the position of Project Director in the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Division of Prevention to manage a NYS State Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Community Outreach Program. The initiative is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is designed to provide community outreach services to adolescents and adults in underserved communities and populations.

Candidates should have strong management, writing, and oral communication skills; ability to work cooperatively with diverse stakeholders; and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidate should have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment with changing needs and priorities. Experience working in a culturally diverse communities is an asset.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Provide day-to-day management and coordination of activities associated with the SBIRT Community Outreach grant.

  • Serve as the primary contact for subrecipients and contractors on the project.
  • Coordinate the training activities of the project.
  • Coordinate the Technical Assistance of the project.
  • Ensure all project milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate with the Project Evaluator to ensure that all data collection is achieved.
  • Meet regularly with evaluator and sub-recipients to discuss project outcomes and any modifications needed based on outcome measures.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports summarizing the project's activities.
  • Coordinate efforts of applicable workgroups and attend community partnership meetings either personally or virtually.
  • Attend Advisory Committee meetings in person or virtually.
  • Travel : 10%

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a substance use disorder (SUD), health, or mental health field; OR
  • A Master's Degree or J.D. with 2 years of professional experience a noted above; OR
  • A Doctorate degree with 1 year of professional experience as noted above.
  • Candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in public health, public administration, sociology, psychology or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing projects of similar size and complexity is desirable, including examples of projects and references who can speak to the success of those projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and / or PowerPoint.
