PAIN MANAGEMENT PHYSICIAN
The Pain Management Physician provides specialized medical care to patients experiencing acute or chronic pain, focusing on restoring function and improving quality of life through interventional procedures, rehabilitation, and medication management. The physician works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient clinical setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Perform interventional procedures including, but not limited to, nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), spinal cord stimulation, pain pump management, and lumbar decompression.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
- Supervise and collaborate with mid-level providers across outpatient clinics and affiliated facilities.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests; coordinate referrals to specialists when appropriate.
- Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to ensure safety and efficacy.
- Educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and care expectations.
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Comply with clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
- Actively participate in team meetings, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Interventional Pain MedicineMD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical licenseStrong clinical skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesPreferred :
Board Certification in Pain MedicineClinical background in Anesthesiology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)Active DEA license and credentialing with major Texas payer networks and MedicareExperience in interventional procedures and multimodal pain managementWillingness to manage patients with morphine milligram equivalents (MME) under 200PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, and perform procedures for prolonged periodsAbility to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with patient positioning as neededVisual and manual dexterity required for procedures and electronic documentationCapacity to manage a fast-paced clinical environment with high patient volumesStrong cognitive skills to assess, diagnose, and treat complex casesWhy You’ll Love Working Here
