We are seeking a experienced and motivated Mortgage Officer to join our clients team in Charlotte, NC. This role is ideal for a client-focused professional who enjoys helping individuals and families achieve their home-ownership and financial goals.
About the Role
As a Mortgage Officer, you’ll assist new and existing clients with a range of home lending solutions — from purchasing a new home to refinancing an existing mortgage or obtaining a home equity line of credit. You’ll handle inbound and outbound calls in a call center environment, guiding clients through every step of the mortgage process while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
This position is subject to SAFE Act registration requirements . Employees engaged in residential mortgage originations must register with the federal registry system, complete a background check, and maintain good standing as required by law. Failure to maintain SAFE Act registration may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Key Responsibilities
Provide exceptional client care by understanding each client’s financial goals and recommending the most suitable lending solutions.
Handle inbound and outbound calls to assist clients with home purchase financing, refinancing, and home equity lines of credit.
Submit mortgage applications and assist clients with gathering all required documentation.
Communicate consistently with clients and business partners via phone, email, and digital messaging throughout the loan process.
Leverage internal systems, technology platforms, and standardized processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer clients to other relevant banking products and services.
Balance performance, client satisfaction, and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Maintain a strong understanding of the mortgage process, policies, and risk management standards.
Requirements Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1+ year of mortgage and sales experience .
Strong client service orientation with the ability to build trust and deepen relationships.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and non-verbal).
Proven ability to assess client needs and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Proficiency with technology systems and adaptability to new tools or platforms.
Commitment to maintaining professional ethics and regulatory compliance.
Availability to work weekends or extended hours as needed.
Education : High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Desired Qualifications
Previous contact center experience .
Knowledge of Conventional, Jumbo, and Government loan products.
Understanding of FHA and HUD guidelines .
Familiarity with underwriting, processing, or closing procedures , as well as federal lending regulations .
Ability to analyze complex financial and credit data to determine loan eligibility.
Strong consultative and questioning skills to identify client needs and opportunities.
