Vehicle Technician II (Mechanic)

The ideal Candidate hired will be under general direction, performs skilled diagnostic repair and maintenance work on motor coaches, automobiles, and associated equipment; and performs related duties as required.

Examples of Duties

Swing shift and graveyard shift ONLY.

• Must be able to work both shifts (swing / graveyard) and divisions (San Bernardino / Montclair). Shifts / divisions assigned based on seniority.

The Requirements

To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) or more years of experience in vehicle maintenance and / or formalized training in the maintenance of light and heavy vehicles; and a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have a Class B permit and endorsements prior to first day of work. Must be able to obtain a Class B license by the end of probationary period.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Positions in this job classification are considered safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing, under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations. Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Act (Cal-OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear including but not limited to respirators and / or hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required.

The Selection Process

An on-line application must be completely filled out to be considered. The selection process consists of an evaluation of education, experience. (A Class B license is not required to submit an employment application but a Class B permit or Class A or B License with passenger and air brake endorsement is required prior to the first day of employment) . Those that have applied and tested in the past 6 months will not be eligible to re-apply. The most competitively qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations.
