Job Title : Phlebotomist - Vancouver
Job Description
The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
Update patient information and collect / store specimens according to established procedures.
Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure labels are accurate.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries.
Essential Skills
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting- hospital experience preferred!
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.
5-7 years of experience in phlebotomy, venipuncture, and blood draw.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous customer service experience in any setting.
Eagerness to learn and ability to take feedback well.
Patient-first mindset and positive attitude.
Proven reliability and positive attendance record.
Work Environment
The schedule is Monday-Friday, 4 : 30 AM - 1 : 00 PM. The contract duration is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00 / hr.
