Summary
The Focus Factory Manager / Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the flow of products through the complete production cycle. This role ensures that production schedules are executed on time, safely, and within quality standards. The position requires cross day / night shift coverage, with core hours designed to overlap both shifts (e.g., 10 : 00 AM–7 : 00 PM or 11 : 00 AM–8 : 00 PM).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Distribute production schedules or work orders to departments.
- Revise production schedules as needed due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering teams.
- Review documents such as production schedules and work orders to determine personnel or material requirements and priorities.
- Utilize computer systems (hardware and software) for data entry, scheduling, and process management.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via phone, email, and in person.
- Gather and analyze information from all relevant sources to ensure accurate scheduling.
- Coordinate operational activities across shifts to maintain workflow continuity.
- Read and interpret work orders to determine material or setup requirements.
- Ensure each job runs on the correct press based on capability, tooling, and entitlement rate; maintain and own a press assignment matrix.
- Act as the entitlement rate champion—validate standards, coach to rate, and close gaps to entitlement.
- Oversee press operation coverage; learn and operate key presses as needed for training, troubleshooting, and meeting demand.
- Validate press assignment matrix and entitlement rates for top SKUs; deliver visible productivity improvements.
- Drive waste-out initiatives (material waste, motion, waiting, rework, overprocessing, overproduction, inventory).
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities (e.g., SMED / changeover reductions, standard work, visual controls).
- Standardize operating procedures and training content to embed best practices
- Directly supervise operators, 1099 contractors on day and second shift. (select work centers)
- Approve timecards, assign work, manage attendance, and handle basic employee relations (select work centers)
Qualifications
Proficiency in intermediate computer programs (Excel, Word, Email,etc).Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply practical solutions.Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to direct and train hourly employees.Ability to understand and execute both verbal and written instructions.Capability to lead a team without direct supervision.Education and Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in manufacturing scheduling.High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.Physical Requirements :
Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.Frequent walking, climbing, and lifting.Ability to reach with hands and arms.Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.Must have adequate vision and hearing.Company Description
