What You Get To Do

• Responsible for the visual appearance and function of the theming, scenic, and signage elements used in productions, animal presentations, events, and other annual / reoccurring entertainment offerings at both parks.
• Collaborate with event and show producers, corporate designers, technical teams (lighting, audio, visual, etc.), entertainment managers, senior leadership team, and other stakeholders to establish a cohesive plan and designs that meet their needs.
• Complete requests for signage, scenic, and other graphic design elements from all areas of the park, including Culinary, Merchandise, Operations, Zoo / Education, Entertainment, etc.
• Develop and follow style guides, color elevations, and DNA sheets as a brand steward.
• Consult the departmental production calendar and note all due dates. Review work load and new requests to establish prospective deadlines for requests, feedback, and approval processes.
• Organize projects and manages status sheet on a daily basis. Documents project hours and revisions.
• Monitor progress of design elements, meet assigned deadlines for each phase of a project, and keep supervisor informed of changes to the deadline.
• Record, document, and organize core elements of major design projects such as specs (colors, fonts, size, materials), digital assets, working files, print ready files, photo documentation of completed items.
• Prepare creative briefs for cost estimates and bids and collaborate with vendors for outsourced projects as needed.
• Attend or coordinate design and production meetings as needed.
• Assist with planning, construction, and installation of elements designed, as requested or necessary.
• This is an on-site position located in Williamsburg, VA.
