Electromyographic Technician Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare patients for electromyography (EMG) tests by explaining procedures for testing.
- Calibrate and maintain EMG equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy.
- Perform EMG tests by applying electrodes to patient muscles and recording electrical activity.
- Assist in nerve conduction studies (NCS) to assess the efficiency of nerve impulse transmission.
- Interpret basic test results and provide preliminary reports to the supervising neurologist.
- Maintain accurate records of patient data, procedures performed, and test results.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during testing procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to discuss test findings and potential diagnoses.
Requirements :
Electromyographic Technician Qualifications & Skills
Certification from a recognized Electromyography program.Previous experience working in a clinical neurophysiology setting.Strong understanding of neuroanatomy and nerve conduction physiology.Proficiency in using neurodiagnostic equipment and associated software.Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team.Completion of an accredited Electromyography Technician program.Valid certification or licensure as required by state regulations.Hands-on experience with EMG and nerve conduction study equipment.Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to follow detailed protocols and work under supervision.
