This position allows for partial telework with management approval.

The Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program is a supplemental nutrition program that supports participants with nutrition, education and breastfeeding support. WIC is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to assist with the management of WIC federal grants and program financial operations.

Core Responsibilities :

As a key member of the WIC team, your core responsibilities will include :

  • Management of the WIC federal grants, including reconciliation, reporting and evaluation.
  • Development of the WIC budget.
  • Submit bi-weekly draw and wire paperwork and monthly infant food and formula rebates.
  • Manage WIC Programs internal accounting operations in accordance with Federal and State regulations to ensure proper functioning, accountability, accuracy, and complete disclosure of the Programs financial status to the concerned parties.
  • Act as technical resource to provide support to state and local agency staff in the areas of cost sharing, cost analysis, financial analysis, and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements according to Federal Regulations to communicate relevant financial information to concerned parties.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

    Intermediate to advanced education, training, and / or experience in accounting, business administration, financial planning, budgeting, or another related field demonstrating competency in analyzing complex data and records, interpreting policies, rules, and laws, designing operational frameworks, identifying process and procedure deficiencies, and developing practical solutions.

    Preferred candidates will have :

    o Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    o The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners.

    o Computer skills, including knowledge of excel.

    o The ability to guide strategic discussions and help groups to reach decisions that will further the mission of the WIC Program.

    o Experience directly related to Federal Grants Management.
