Job descriptionPatient Demographics : Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume / Census : 1820 patients daily in clinic Admissions : As needed (hospitalist typically handles) Rounding : Yes, during weekend call (1012 patients) Phone Consults : Yes, during call Case Mix : 65% Hematology / 35% Oncology No. of Beds in Department : 220 Trauma Level : Level III EMR System : Epic Specialty Backup Available : Yes (2 Oncologists, 4 APPs) Support Staff Available : APPs, RNs Reason for Coverage : Staff leaving Hospital Privileges Required : Yes Temporary Privileges Available : No Credentialing Timeline : 6090 days Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES None required Licenses : Active IN license or IMLC eligible Board : BC / BE in Hematology and Oncology (must certify within 5 years of residency) DEA : Active DEA Certification Certifications : ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA) Experience : Minimum 2 years in specialty Vaccinations : Flu (required or exemption), COVID (not required) Other Qualifications : Must complete order entry and timesheets via Vemsta platform Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient hematology / oncology care Participate in weekend call rotation and provide consults as needed Manage clinic patients and coordinate care with APPs and hospitalists Review and manage inpatient consults (typically within 2448 hours) Collaborate with support staff to ensure continuity of care Document all encounters accurately in Epic EMR Bridge employment gaps or transitions between permanent positions by taking on locum assignments, maintaining income and professional engagement during transitional periods. Build a wide professional network by collaborating with different healthcare teams, opening doors for future career prospects and collaborations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and specialists across various healthcare settings, gaining insights and perspectives that enrich your professional practice. Transition between full-time, part-time, or locum roles as your personal or professional circumstances evolve, maintaining career fluidity and adaptability.
