Position Overview :

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) functions as an advanced practice provider within the physician practice, delivering comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services to patients of all ages. Working collaboratively with the supervising physician and clinical staff, the FNP is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

The FNP provides patient-centered care focused on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic illnesses in accordance with Gateway Regional Medical Center policies, clinical guidelines, and Illinois state regulations. The role emphasizes patient education, continuity of care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

  • Position Status : Full-time
  • Work Schedule : M-F 40hrs per week

Education Qualifications :

  • Required : Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a focus in Family Practice.
  • Certification Qualifications :

  • Required : Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Illinois
  • Required : Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification
  • Required : N ational certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC) by an accredited certifying body (AANP or ANCC) .
  • Required : DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (CSL) required or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in the delivery of primary care services to patients across the lifespan.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and healthcare technology.
