Budget Specialist
Applications are now being accepted for the position of Budget Specialist in the Administration Department. This is a non-exempt position with a hiring range of $20.80 - $25.20 hourly / DOQ.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Under the supervision of the Budget Manager, the Budget Specialist performs technical and administrative tasks related to budget development and analysis.
- The Budget Specialists responsibilities include assisting with budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, tracking financial data, supporting forecasting efforts, organizing documentation, and maintaining reports within the budgeting software.
- The position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with auditors, accountants, representatives from federal, state, and local agencies, the general public and other District employees.
Qualifications :
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of general accounting procedures / processes, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel, governmental budgeting theories and practices, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) / Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)Good knowledge of federal and state regulations relating to budgeting and problem-solving techniques.Experience in all aspects of budgeting processes in local government, preferably in an independent agency comparable to the District. Graduation from a college or university with major work in accounting, business management or related field OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities.An AA / EEO / ADA
