Summary of Position The Department of Library Services at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) seeks a dedicated and student-centered Library Instruction Assistant to support library instruction, research services, and general operations at both the Lakewood and Arvada campuses. Reporting to the Instruction Librarian, this position plays an integral role in advancing information literacy and fostering a welcoming, inclusive learning environment. Key responsibilities include teaching library instruction sessions across various disciplines, providing responsive research assistance to students, faculty, and staff across multiple modalities (in-person, email, phone, Zoom, and IM), and collaborating on the development of instructional materials and assessment tools.
The Library Instruction Assistant also helps coordinate daily tasks for student employees and contributes to special projects, outreach, and event support as needed. This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position, working 18-24 hours per week for a maximum of 9 months, depending on institutional need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System and will conclude on August, 7th, 2026.
The work schedule is flexible within library hours (Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday shifts may be available).

Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student or have completed a Master's Degree in a library science program.
- Experience or interest in information literacy.
Preferred Qualifications: - Coursework or professional experience with web-based applications (such as social media, cloud-based media storage, videoconferencing programs, and learning management systems).
- Coursework or professional experience in reference services.
- Coursework or professional experience in library instruction, including knowledge of library instruction assessment methods.
- Experience with video editing and production.
- Experience generating and editing social media content in a professional capacity.
- Interest in working in an academic or health sciences library.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with , accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security.
