Summary : This Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. This leadership position involves managing cross-functional teams, improving processes, and driving operational excellence.
Essential Duties :
Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
Leads the Safety Committee and ensures work environments are positive and safe.
Oversees purchasing, project management, and inventory functions, coordinating with sales and design, ensuring each is reaching goals set by company leadership.
Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.
Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, design / sales, technology, and customer service functions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of Fire and Security division managers.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Directs discipline and termination of employees as needed with the HR Manager and in accordance with company policy.
Stay current with changing technology, including software and field services programs.
Work toward continuous quality improvement.
Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Specific Measurables for performance in this position may include :
Supervisory Responsibilities : The Director of Operations has supervisory responsibility for the Operations Department, including 2 subordinate supervisors.
Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education / Experience : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Preference will be given to Candidates with these Certificates and / or Licenses :
State of Iowa License
Local Fire Alarm License
NICET II or ESA equivalent
Must be able to pass a background check.
A valid state driver's license is required for this position.
Physical requirements are lifting up to 50lbs, sitting and / or standing for long periods of time, and reaching with your hands or arms for an extended period of time.
