Job description

Job Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer II supports the organization's security posture by building, operating, and maintaining cybersecurity tools and applications. This position monitors and responds to security events, assesses risks, and ensures compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards. The position collaborates with teams across the business to address vulnerabilities, improve security processes, and support enterprise initiatives.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you will be doing :

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to security events using enterprise security tools.
  • Build, operate, and maintain cybersecurity applications and tools.
  • Conduct security risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support incident response activities and assist with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit processes.
  • Provide input and guidance on security considerations for enterprise projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation and adoption of new cybersecurity toolsets.
  • Collaborate with the Security Operations Center on active cases and new initiatives.
  • Publish best practices, create documentation, and provide feedback to technical and business teams.
  • Stay current with evolving threats, trends, and technologies to strengthen the security program.

What we need from you :

  • Bachelor's degree in technology, information security, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in technology roles.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in cloud security, vulnerability management, and risk assessment across multiple technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of IT systems including cloud, networking, and servers.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices, tools, and processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements such as SOX and PCI.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and collaborate effectively with peers and business partners.
  • Experience administering and configuring IT security tools and controls.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment to security best practices.
  • What we also value (preferred) :

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SSCP, Security+, Azure Security Engineer, CCNA, or Microsoft Security / Administration certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security design and remediation.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding peers on technical security matters.
  • Minimum qualifications :
