Position : Physical Therapy Assistant

Position Summary : As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work under the general supervision of the physical medicine lead and directly with the therapist responsible for each patient’s care. You will take on the responsibility for a designated group of patients, providing essential physical therapy modalities, treatment procedures, and wound care, all while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver patient care in line with physician orders and the treatment plan established by the evaluating physical therapist, including wound care and topical medication application.
  • Conduct measurements and assessments of patient status, ensuring adherence to your licensure and abilities.
  • Maintain open communication and collaboration with the evaluating physical therapist to maximize therapy benefits.
  • Implement educational plans as outlined by the evaluating therapist, identifying and addressing additional educational needs for patients and their families.
  • Follow discharge plans and discuss any concerns with the evaluating therapist.
  • Engage with patients, families, and the healthcare team to enhance the effectiveness of care.
  • Measure progress and collaborate with the evaluating therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed.

    Qualifications :

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintained throughout employment
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements :

  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English
  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
  • Capability to lift and transfer patients, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and / or sitting
  • Calm and composed under stress, especially in emergency situations
