Summary :
As a vital part of our healthcare team, you will perform clinical testing across various laboratory sections such as general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Your role will ensure accurate and timely results through quality control, performance improvement, and equipment maintenance. You will recognize abnormal critical values and effectively communicate with medical team members. Additionally, you'll engage in clerical and phlebotomy duties necessary for the seamless operation of the laboratory.
Responsibilities :
- Embrace and demonstrate company values in service delivery to all customers.
- Collect, handle, and process specimens correctly; perform blood draws via venipuncture or fingerstick, ensuring accurate identification and labeling.
- Conduct lab testing in identified sections, including Hematology, Chemistry, and Microbiology, adhering to established timeframes and procedures.
- Recognize and address improbable test results, promptly reporting critical values according to established policies.
- Maintain quality control records and adhere to regulatory guidelines including CLIA, CAP, AABB, and JCAHO standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and initiate service calls as needed.
- Commit to professional growth through continuous education and training opportunities.
- Assist in training new team members and students in laboratory practices.
- Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) and hospital information systems (HIS) efficiently for recording and reporting laboratory results.
- Complete annual competency assessments on time.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
Associate's Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent experience as per CLIA regulations.Experience
No prior experience necessary for graduates of accredited clinical laboratory programs.Alternatively, a minimum of 6 months of approved clinical laboratory experience is required.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Licensure as required in Louisiana.New graduates should complete Board Certification within one year if not already certified.Work Schedule :
