Nature & Purpose of Position :
The Navigator serves as a front-line representative of the Veterans and Military-Connected Center (VMCC) at Sam Houston State University. This position is designed to assist military-connected students, including veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, and dependents, by guiding them through campus resources and other university services. Navigators provide peer-to-peer support, ensure a welcoming environment within the center, and help facilitate student success through outreach, engagement, and administrative assistance. The purpose of this role is to enhance the overall experience of military-connected students by connecting them to academic, personal, and professional resources that support their needs. Navigators play a crucial role in fostering community, enhancing student retention, and bridging the gap between the VMCC and the broader SHSU community.
Other Requirements for the Position :
Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to complete tasks accurately and on time. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals and groups are essential. Some work may occur occasionally during nights and on weekends.
Requirements :
Pay rate : $10.00 / hour (College Work Study if applicable) and $7.25 / hour (VA Work Study).
